| National Wallace Monument |
After a long flight Sunday night and arrival in Scotland the
morning of Monday, June 19, our teams took some time to rest and visit the
quaint town of Stirling and familiarize ourselves with the local hospitality.
Our first day we explored the Stirling University campus where we are staying
and made a trek to see the William Wallace Monument and to take in a
spectacular view of the area. William Wallace was the man who liberated
Scotland so it was a great way to learn some history.

We toured the town and spent time getting to know our fellow
team members over great food and drinks. In one of the shops we visited we
learned that it's a Scottish tradition to give a penny to the purchaser of your
cattle as a sign that your cattle are sound and that you are selling them
honestly.

During the afternoon, each country made a presentation to
share what their junior association does to serve their members. Later in the evening we engaged in a meet and
greet with delegates from the World Angus Forum and were welcomed to Scotland
by the Forum organizers. It has been a
busy first few days and we are really looking forward to the rest of the youth
program!
