Building the Legacy Sale has become Canadian Angus Foundation’s main fundraiser focus and has been very successful in generating resources to further our mission.

The Canadian Angus Foundation functions to preserve and expand the Angus breed for future generations through education, youth development, scientific and market research, and historical preservation and restoration. The Canadian Angus Foundation was incorporated in 1993 and is the charitable arm of the Canadian Angus Association.

The vision of the Building the Legacy concept is to allow the Foundation to build monetary resources. The Foundation uses its funds to provide opportunities for our youth, young breeders and membership to grow in the areas of leadership, marketing, networking, animal husbandry, genetic improvement and to learn about developing tools to enhance Angus production. The vision also includes the importance of preserving Angus history. By fostering these areas we can ensure our Angus history is not lost and will keep Angus as the breed of choice for the commercial beef sector and end users for years to come.

Our vision is being realized and because of generous donors we can support initiatives, scholarships, travel bursaries and learning opportunities. Through benevolent giving of donated livestock, semen, embryos, items and experiences, and the purchasing of the auction offerings, we at the Foundation have been able to put together a great suite of opportunities for our Angus membership.

Feature Lot – 1 Package of 2 Embryos  - Coleman Donna 6205 x Bar-E-L Natural Law 52Y, Donated by Everblack Angus - The Gibson Family and Allandale Angus - Wayne Stetson

Coleman Donna 6205 came to us as the top selling open female at the 2017 Angus collection sale. Donna 6205 was the calf at side when her donor dam was selected by Bohrson Marketing from the popular Coleman Angus program in Montana. The maternal strength is strong in this one, having two of the most respected cows in the Angus breed in her pedigree, those being S A V Blackcap May 4136 on top and Coleman Donna 714 on the bottom. We cannot forget about the sire of these embryos. Bar-E-L
Natural Law needs no introduction as he has risen to be one of the top maternal sires in the Angus breed.

Feature Lot – 1 Package of 2 Embryos – Choice of Cudlobe Queen 38E x Poss Maverick and Cudlobe Eline 7E x Poss Maverick, Donated by Cudlobe Angus – David, Mat and Addy Bolduc

Poss Maverick was one of the highest used Angus bulls in the US in spring 2019. Owned by Semex and Belvin Angus, he was the $60,000 high-selling bull at Poss Angus sale in 2018. Maverick combines a unique package of carcass merit and phenotype rarely seen in the breed. Phenotypically, Maverick is deep ribbed, stout based, sound footed and brings an extra dimension of performance and growth. His genetic merit balanced high growth with a 141 YW EPD and high marbling of 1.51. His first calves have showcased early gestation and lower birth weights with the look and eye appeal expected. Only two animals in the CAA database combine 130 YW with 1.50 Marbling: Maverick and Eline 7E, one of the possible matings.

A choice of two outstanding Bennett TheRock daughters are available to be mated with Maverick. Cudlobe Eline 7E and Cudlobe Queen 38E both bring unique matings with their balanced carcass merit, strong growth that combine well with Maverick’s breeding potential. Both will provide exciting options.
