Check out the catalogue and start planning your bids today!

Feature Lot – 1 Package of 3 Embryos - Harvest Blackbird Jo Jo 133D x Musgrave Sky High 1535, Donated by Harvest Angus – the deWaal Family

Sky High was the lead off and $136,000 high selling bull of the 2016 Musgrave Angus Sale. He was a standout bull that uniquely combined stoutness, width of base, muscle, depth of rib and eye appeal. Harvest Jo Jo 133D is directly sired by the great S A V Harvester that combines muscle, performance and generations of maternal strength in his females. The power and maternal strength of Harvester combined with the style and eye appeal of Sky High makes for an exciting combination.

Feature Lot – 2 Packages of 5 Straws - HA Cowboy Up 5405, Donated by Hamilton Farms – the Hamilton Family

Cowboy Up sold in the 2016 Hinman sale for $350,000. When the dust settled, Hamilton Farms was able to acquire Canadian semen rights on this powerful prospect. He has an outcross pedigree and is a high performance, big-bodied, wide-based, heavy-quartered individual, who is simply impressive in his makeup. Cowboy Up is an outlier, a breed changer with incredible growth and performance while maintaining traditional Angus character. His EPD profile is impressive: top 1% for WW, YW and CW. His cow family is the definition of maternal performance.

Feature Lot - Service Credit Towards 1 day of Pasture Pictures, Donated by Golden Thread Livestock Images

Golden Thread Livestock Images is donating one day of pasture pictures—including some aerial drone shots! A session of pasture pictures with Golden Thread is a great way to start building a library of posed photos of your cows. Why not document the mothers of your upcoming herd sires? Also, you will get tons of candid/landscape shots for use in ad, catalogue and website designs. Help your program stand out from the pack by letting Golden Thread Livestock Images walk (and fly) amongst your herd!
$1,500 value—must be used by September 30, 2019.

Feature Lot - Choice of Flushing or Semen Collection Services ($600 value), Donated by Bow Valley Genetics Ltd.

Dr. Rob Stables, Daryl Leppa and the rest of the team at Bow Valley Genetics continue to increase their market share through provision of top quality service at Bassano, Alberta. The crew are strong supporters of our sector and continue to donate to our Foundation, offering what are, for many of us, essential services as part of our seedstock production operation.

Building the Legacy Sale has become Canadian Angus Foundation’s main fundraiser focus and has been very successful in generating resources to further our mission.

The Canadian Angus Foundation functions to preserve and expand the Angus breed for future generations through education, youth development, scientific and market research, and historical preservation and restoration. The Canadian Angus Foundation was incorporated in 1993 and is the charitable arm of the Canadian Angus Association.

The vision of the Building the Legacy concept is to allow the Foundation to build monetary resources. The Foundation uses its funds to provide opportunities for our youth, young breeders and membership to grow in the areas of leadership, marketing, networking, animal husbandry, genetic improvement and to learn about developing tools to enhance Angus production. The vision also includes the importance of preserving Angus history. By fostering these areas we can ensure our Angus history is not lost and will keep Angus as the breed of choice for the commercial beef sector and end users for years to come.

Our vision is being realized and because of generous donors we can support initiatives, scholarships, travel bursaries and learning opportunities. Through benevolent giving of donated livestock, semen, embryos, items and experiences, and the purchasing of the auction offerings, we at the Foundation have been able to put together a great suite of opportunities for our Angus membership.
