Building the Legacy Sale has become
Canadian Angus Foundation’s main fundraiser focus and has been very successful
in generating resources to further our mission.
The Canadian Angus Foundation
functions to preserve and expand the Angus breed for future generations through
education, youth development, scientific and market research, and historical
preservation and restoration. The Canadian Angus Foundation was incorporated in
1993 and is the charitable arm of the Canadian Angus Association.
The vision of the Building the Legacy
concept is to allow the Foundation to build monetary resources. The Foundation
uses its funds to provide opportunities for our youth, young breeders and
membership to grow in the areas of leadership, marketing, networking, animal
husbandry, genetic improvement and to learn about developing tools to enhance
Angus production. The vision also includes the importance of preserving Angus
history. By fostering these areas we can ensure our Angus history is not lost
and will keep Angus as the breed of choice for the commercial beef sector and
end users for years to come.
Our vision is being realized and
because of generous donors we can support initiatives, scholarships, travel
bursaries and learning opportunities. Through benevolent giving of donated
livestock, semen, embryos, items and experiences, and the purchasing of the auction
offerings, we at the Foundation have been able to put together a great suite of
opportunities for our Angus membership.

Association and Canadian Angus Foundation
At the celebration of our
centennial in 2005, CAA unveiled our first-ever official art: two works by
Wendy Risdale. Ten years later, with very few of those prints left, we commissioned
new official art. Today, all four of the originals hang on the walls at Angus
Central and we are offering you the chance to own a piece of our history in one
of the few ‘Master of the Herd’ Red Angus prints left from 2005; one of the 2015
Red Angus ‘Time Out’ prints or the 2015 Black Angus ‘Maternal Watch’ print.
Master of the Herd is matted and framed. Time Out and Maternal Watch are
printed on canvas and framed attractively in rustic dark barnwood. A great
addition to any collection.

Hot off the press, the
Canadian Angus Foundation is pleased to launch The Breeds, the Legends,
the History: Canadian Angus History Book, 2019 Edition at Convention. Dead
Wood Furniture
has
created unique wooden boxes to showcase these limited-edition, leather-bound
versions of
the
book. Building the Legacy 8 is your first chance to own one of these
one-of-a-kind creations. Only a handful of these numbered books were printed with a
leather cover, and each one has a unique wooden display box. The 560-page full-colour
history book contains a comprehensive review of the
history of the Angus breed, an overview of Angus in Canada, and 363 Canadian Angus member
histories in the members’ own words. This book will make you laugh and cry, and will make you
feel incredibly proud to be part of the Canadian Angus fraternity.
